The sage above reads the heavens the way your chart reads you — the Big Dipper marks the hours, the mountains mark the seasons, and your birth marks where you stand among them.
Your free chart above is just the skeleton — the full reading decodes it:

Bazi (八字, literally "eight characters") — also called the Four Pillars of Destiny — is a Chinese system that reads a person's life from the moment of their birth. It has been in continuous use for about a thousand years, and it needs only four pieces of information: the year, month, day and hour you were born.
Each of those four moments is written as a pair of characters — a Heavenly Stem above an Earthly Branch — giving four pillars and eight characters. The stem of the day pillar is called the Day Master and represents you; at that point everything else in the chart is read as a relationship to it. Each character carries one of the five elements — Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal or Water — in either a yang or a yin phase, and the reading is built by asking which elements the Day Master needs and which press against it.
The calculator above does the part that is pure computation: it converts your birth details to true solar time, derives the four pillars from the solar-term calendar, and shows your Day Master, element balance and the opening Luck Pillars. That part is free and always will be, and we do not store it. The written interpretation is the paid part, because weighing eight characters against each other is skilled reading rather than arithmetic.
Two honest boundaries. Bazi is a traditional system of interpretation, not a science, and it describes tendencies and timing rather than predicting what will certainly happen. Nothing here is medical, financial, legal or psychological advice.
Yes, and it is complete rather than a teaser. Your four pillars, Day Master, five-element balance and opening Luck Pillars are calculated and shown at no cost, and a free chart is never stored on our servers. The optional written reading is the paid part, because interpreting a chart properly takes skilled reading time.
It is not required. Without a time you get an honest three-pillar chart rather than an invented hour. But an exact time plus your birthplace is better, because the birthplace allows the clock time to be corrected to true solar time, which can shift the effective birth hour by more than two hours.
Bazi is built on true solar time, not clock time. The birthplace gives us the longitude and the historical time zone, so we can correct for the difference between the sun and the clock — and for daylight saving that may have been in force on the day you were born, including rules that no longer apply today.
No. Your animal sign is one of the eight characters in the chart — the branch of the year pillar. Bazi reads all four pillars and centres on the Day Master. Reading a person from their animal alone is a much coarser instrument.

No. Enter the city and the historical time zone is resolved from the standard IANA timezone database, including offsets and daylight saving rules that no longer apply today but were in force when you were born.
